Garden Box Frequently Asked Questions
Our garden box design is based on what we’ve seen home gardeners successfully build and use over the years. We didn’t invent a new concept — instead, we focused on refining a practical design into something sturdy, long-lasting, and clean in appearance. After nearly a decade of building garden boxes, our plans have been continually improved and are now well optimized for strength, durability, and consistency.
Yes — many home gardeners could build a similar box on their own, and we’re always happy to talk through our design approach. However, because we build using standardized plans and purchase materials in bulk, we’re able to offer a finished, well-built box at a very competitive price. Most customers find that buying from us saves time and effort while still getting a high-quality result.
Garden boxes are typically built seasonally in the spring. Availability depends on order volume and materials. Please contact us to confirm current ordering availability.
Garden boxes are built in batches. Build timing varies based on order volume, but batches are often completed every other week.
All garden boxes are built from pressure-treated wood with hot-dipped galvanized steel panels. Decking screws, galvanized nails and coated roofing screws are used in assembly. Boxes are open-bottom and designed for long-term outdoor use.
Older pressure-treated lumber (prior to 2004) commonly contained arsenic. The pressure-treated lumber used today does not contain arsenic and is manufactured using modern treatment methods approved for residential and garden use. The materials we use meet current safety standards and are widely used for outdoor projects such as decks, fences, and raised garden beds.
Pressure-treated lumber is not a decorative material, and natural variation in color and appearance is normal. Lumber can vary by manufacturer and batch, with colors ranging from deep orange to darker red tones. While we do our best to select lumber with a consistent appearance, exact color matching is not guaranteed. Each box may show some natural “character,” which is part of working with real wood.
At times, pressure-treated lumber may have excess preservative visible on the surface, often appearing white or green. This is normal and will naturally wash away over time with weather exposure and watering. It does not affect the strength or longevity of the garden box.
Yes. All garden boxes are 2.5 feet wide, measured from corner trim to corner trim. We offer a small set of standard lengths. By standardizing the sizes, we dramatically reduce wasted materials and are able to offer reasonable prices.
Yes. Custom sizes are available by request and require a quote. Please expect custom boxes to cost more due to non-standardized cut lists and material waste.

Yes. The boxes are built to order and the materials are expensive. We ask for a 50% deposit to secure an order. The remaining balance is due at pickup or delivery.
Because garden boxes are built to order, deposits are non-refundable once materials have been purchased or construction has begun.
